Camp: Notes on Fashion

Reimagined The Met’s Camp: Notes on Fashion (2019)

An exhibition previously presented at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2019, Camp: Notes on Fashion takes precedence from Susan Sontag's 1964 essay “Notes on Camp.” The exhibit begins with Sontag narrating the origins of camp through early examples and its usage as different parts of speech. As camp slowly shifts itself to the 'mainstream' culture, it evolves through different connotations and interpretations. Unlike other exhibitions, there is no right way to do camp. It is altogether a noun, adjective, verb, style, and an attitude. This is in no way an attempt in correcting the original exhibit, but simply another interpretation of camp.
